Chun Lee

A few years after the arrival of the first resident Protestant missionary in Korea in 1884, Chun Lee’s great-grandmother embraced Christianity through the efforts of American missionaries, a faith that has been passed down through his family. Raised in a Christian household, Chun became an active member of Campus Crusade during his college years in South Korea. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics, he pursued an M.Div. at Regent College in Vancouver, Canada, with the intent of becoming a missionary. However, his path led him to mission research, and he has served as a researcher at Korea Research Institute for Mission (KRIM) in Seoul for over 15 years. In 2021, Chun resumed theological studies, earning a Th.M. in Mission Studies from Torch Trinity Graduate University, Seoul, and subsequently entered a Ph.D. program in the History of Mission and World Christianity at the same institution. Currently a Ph.D. candidate in the dissertation phase, his research explores the relationship between urbanization and World Christianity. Additionally, Chun is a certified librarian with extensive library experience. Ordained in 2007, he has been married to Sookyun for 26 years and has two children, Gillian and Gwenue.
