2023–2024 OMSC@PTS Resident Scholars & Leadership

I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
—John 10:10

This is how Jesus described his mission, and he charged his followers to live as his witnesses to abundant life for all of God’s creation. This is what OMSC@PTS seeks to foster through our Residential Study Program.

A VIBRANT GLOBAL COMMUNITY

Each year, OMSC at Princeton Theological Seminary welcomes to campus a new group of Resident Scholars from Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Oceania* and from every Christian tradition. They include local and cross-cultural church leaders, professors, and educational administrators. These Resident Scholars enlarge our understanding and vision of the church’s participation in God’s mission in Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

At the same time, active participation in the life of the seminary community promotes the personal, intellectual, and spiritual growth of our Resident Scholars. Beyond participation in the Residential Study Program, regular and sustained interactions with seminarians, faculty, local churches, and the broader community introduce them to new forms of worship, witness, and wonder. A time of residency at OMSC@PTS renews mind, spirit, and body for the work ahead.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2024-25 ACADEMIC YEAR ARE NOW CLOSED

THE RESIDENTIAL STUDY PROGRAM

While in residence at OMSC@PTS, all Resident Scholars pursue a pre-approved academic or practical research and writing project related to their specific interests and ministry locations. To accomplish this work, they are granted access to the world-class Princeton Seminary Library and the libraries of Princeton University. While working on their research and writing projects, Resident Scholars also agree to attend all OMSC-sponsored seminars, lectures, and conferences, which are designed for sustained, critical dialogue on the history, theory/theology, and practice of engagement in God’s mission.

Applications for the 2025-26 Academic Year will open in Fall 2025

OMSC grants those who successfully complete the requirements of the full-year Residential Study Program a Certificate in Mission Studies & World Christianity. Resident Scholars also receive five Continuing Education Units (CEU). What sets our non-degree program apart from other centers is our warm welcome to experienced practitioners and academics from around the world as they participate in sustained and lively conversation around issues related to engagement in God’s mission in the many ways this has been conceived, practiced, and critically reflected upon.
