OMSC is very grateful to Prosthetics For Change and Jaipur Foot for providing free of charge a new high tech prosthetic leg to John Ekechukwu, a missionary from Nigeria and current OMSC resident. Jaipur Foot is currently being celebrated at the United Nations for their amazing work over the past 50 years in restoring dignity by providing prosthetics to over 1.7 million people worldwide! John and his wife Adebola, OMSC Executive Director Tom Hastings, and Development Officer Rob Gerowe were invited to a United Nations Panel Discussion and the launch of the Jaipur Foot UN Exhibition on May 15th. Dr D. R. Mehta, founder of Jaipur Foot, led the discussion, and Ashita Dhadda, a high school junior from New Jersey and founder and CEO of Prosthetics For Change, gave a stirring address to gathered dignitaries. Many UN ambassadors from around the world were in attendance at both events. OMSC presented both organizations with a gift of artwork by Wisnu Sasongko, former OMSC artist in residence. It was a great evening of celebration and hope!
