Marcos Amado is a seasoned Brazilian pastor with over 23 years of
cross-cultural experience. He began his missionary journey in 1981 aboard the
Doulos ship with Operation Mobilization, where he served for three years before
relocating with his family to North Africa to work among Muslims for eight
years. He later pursued undergraduate studies in Missiology at All Nations
Christian College in the UK. Following his studies, he was appointed
International Director of PM International and the NGO Pró Mundis in southern
Spain, where he was ordained by the Spanish Baptist Convention and co-founded
the Ibero-American Institute of Cross-Cultural Studies in Málaga. In 2004, he
returned to All Nations Christian College for a master’s degree in Missiology
with a focus on Islamic Studies. Returning to Brazil in 2006, he served as
Missions Pastor at his local church, was the Latin American director for the
Lausanne Movement, and studied ‘Religions and Cultures of the Middle East’ at
the Institute of Middle East Studies in Beirut. Currently, he is a missionary
with Sepal, founder and director of the Martureo Missiological Reflection
Center, and a professor of Missions at Servant of Christ Theological Seminary
in São Paulo. Marcos has extensively written on Islam and missiological topics,
with a current research focus on the influence of ancient Jewish and Christian
texts on the Quran. He is married to Rosângela Amado, and together they have
two children and four granddaughters.
