All J-1 visa applicants who are accepted for long-term study and residence must have medical insurance coverage as required by the United States Government. Such coverage shall include:

  1. Medical benefits of at least $100,000 per person per accident or illness
  2. Repatriation of remains in the amount of $25,000
  3. Expenses associated with medical evacuation in the amount of $50,000; and
  4. A deductible no greater than $500 per accident or illness.

Applicants are encouraged to obtain this insurance coverage before arrival.

Please keep in mind that OMSC scholarships do not cover the cost of medical insurance.
